Sustainability
AVS quality, environment and health and safety policy
Our policy in terms of quality, environment and work environment is to in audio and video:
- Offer total solutions
- Maintain high availability
- Take responsibility for our deliveries
- Offer a wide range of products with a focus on the environment
- Maintain high competence
- Be a total supplier
AVS is the safe supplier.
We are committed to complying with laws, reducing environmental impact, creating the right conditions for employees and constantly improving our services and working methods.
The starting point for our sustainability work is that the business must be conducted in an ethically, socially and environmentally responsible manner, and we work systematically with issues relating to safety, equality and health for our employees, the working environment and the impact on our surroundings. Our sustainability work is based on the objectives developed within the framework of our management system, which is certified by an accredited third party according to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
Our sustainability work is built around three focus areas:
-
Our own operations will be conducted in a sustainable and responsible manner
-
We will work to drive sustainability issues within our supply chain
-
We will meet our customers' needs in a resource-smart way and make it easier for them to make sustainable choices of products and services
This is the basis of our contribution to the 2030 Agenda and the Global Goals.
Sustainable business - our own work
As one of the leading companies in audio and video products in Sweden, we have a great responsibility to provide our customers with the best possible advice on installations and products, but of course also to conduct our own business in a responsible and sustainable way.
We have summarized our expectations for the business in a code of conduct that covers all employees at the company. Read about the Code of Conduct in full further down this page.
The environment
In our own operations, we work continuously to reduce our own emissions. We set environmental requirements for transportation, constantly strive to use transport efficiently and our own technicians use vehicles with high environmental classification. Our transport vehicles are Euro 6 class, and we are monitoring the market to switch to electric vehicles for transportation as soon as possible. We are in the process of replacing our company cars with electric cars and plug-in hybrids. On our property in Malmö, we have installed solar panels that currently produce about 16 000 kWh of green electricity per year, and in our own operations we are (of course!) advocating video conferencing for collaboration to keep travel and thus emissions down.
Our logistics department is continuously working on implementing environmental thinking into everyday operations. We recycle packing material from incoming goods such as plastic and cardboard boxes and have thus been self-sufficient in our distribution channel for a long time. Nowadays, no packing material or cartons need to be purchased - it saves both the environment and the economy! The work of sorting corrugated cardboard, office paper, electronics and metal is ongoing, and through this we also minimize the number of emptying of collection containers. Our waste management partner is ISO-certified.
We have an ongoing effort to raise the environmental awareness of our employees, from which transportation to choose to how to deal with residual materials during installations. We also train our staff in how to handle chemical substances in the best and most environmentally friendly way. We work with a competence table and development plan to constantly raise and develop the skills of our staff to meet the requirements and needs of our customers and keep us updated on the technical developments that take place in audio and video products. We work to create the right conditions for our employees and constantly improve our services, working methods and management systems.
Work environment, equality and skills
We will ensure a good working environment from a physical, psychological and social point of view and are constantly working to improve health and safety in the workplace. We strive to be a good employer for all our staff and to offer an attractive workplace imbued with our core values of honesty, respect and trust. Our core values guide our entire business, both in terms of how we as a company and our employees are expected to act in different situations. Our corporate culture and behavior must be characterized by tolerance and no form of offensive or derogatory behavior is accepted. At AVS, there is of course zero tolerance for any form of discrimination based on, for example, ethnic origin, nationality, beliefs, sexual orientation, gender or age. We work actively for equal treatment and to increase diversity and equality in our activities. AVS sees equality as something self-evident, which should permeate the entire business. The company therefore strives to ensure that its operations are neutral and that women's and men's resources are always utilized in all areas.
We work with a skills matrix and development plan to constantly raise and develop the skills of our staff to be able to meet our customers' requirements and needs and keep up to date with the technical developments that are taking place in audio and video products, as well as their environmental and sustainability performance. In addition to technical training focused on products, training is also carried out in environmental consulting, human rights and the ILO's core conventions. We work continuously to create the right conditions for our employees and thus constantly improve our services, working methods and thus our management system.

Sustainable value chain - production & working conditions
As a supplier of a wide range of audio and visual products, we are part of a large, complex global value chain that faces many challenges to help create our future sustainable society. We often talk about the product footprint - what has this product 'cost' in terms of materials, energy or climate impact? And under what working conditions was it produced?
Challenges in supply chains
Screens, projectors, tablets and the digital infrastructure required to use the technology today are often largely made of virgin (non-recycled) materials. They may also contain so-called rare earth elements and conflict minerals. Their extraction and processing can cause significant negative environmental impacts and there are also poor working conditions, which in some cases also contribute to human rights violations. In the case of some minerals, sales can provide financial support to armed conflicts. These are known as conflict minerals and include gold, tantalum, tin and tungsten.
To promote responsible mineral imports, the EU has introduced a new Conflict Minerals Regulation, which aims to increase traceability in the supply chain and put an end to illegal mining and human rights abuses. The regulation started to apply to imports of conflict minerals on January 1, 2021, and will hopefully facilitate and drive the industry's efforts to source minerals responsibly.
Audio-visual products also contain a wide range of other materials - such as plastics, metals and chemicals of various kinds, the production of which also requires a lot of resources, but most importantly, the vast majority of materials are a finite resource. That's why it's so important that we don't let these valuable materials go to waste, but reuse and recycle them for as long as possible. Further down the page, we'll tell you more about how you can make sure your products last as long as possible!
Sustainable alternatives
Like most IT products, audio and video products are often produced in so-called high-risk countries in terms of labor conditions, and in parts of the world that are largely supplied with fossil fuels. All these areas in the first part of the product's life cycle - from raw material extraction to how it is produced - affect the size of the product's footprint. For a product to be considered sustainable, it must be produced in a resource-efficient way under sustainable working conditions. Together with the rest of the industry and our customers, we are working to bring more truly sustainable products to the market, so that we can meet our customers' needs in a sustainable way.
What do we do at AVS?
Collaboration and governance in our supply chain
One of our overall business objectives is to offer a wide range of products with a focus on the environment. Therefore, we continuously strive to offer products that are produced in a sustainable way, both in terms of the resources used and the working conditions of the people who produce them. Our products contain many components and materials, and supply chains are often long, so it is often difficult to gain full insight into each stage of production. We work actively with our suppliers to influence our entire supply chain and raise the sustainability perspective at all stages.
AVS supports the UN Global Compact initiative, which means that we will work to promote respect for human rights and basic working conditions, work for a better environment and fight corruption. The principles of the Global Compact form the basis of the AVS Supplier Code of Conduct, which sets clear requirements for suppliers to live up to the same standards as we do in all areas of social and environmental responsibility. We expect our suppliers and partners to respect the Code of Conduct and do their utmost to live up to its requirements, both within their own organization and in the supply chain. Minimizing risks throughout the supply chain is a continuous effort, and we regularly conduct evaluations and risk assessments of our critical suppliers to increase governance and transparency in our value chain.
The AVS Code of Conduct is accepted via the AVS Supplier Certificate, which suppliers and partners must complete to be approved. You can read the Code of Conduct in full here.
Sustainability labeled products
We want to help our customers choose more sustainable AV equipment, and therefore strive to clearly highlight and promote sustainability-labeled products on our website to make it easier to make better choices. Among other things, we offer a number of products that are TCO certified, a world-leading sustainability certification for IT products, which helps you make responsible product choices that drive the industry in a sustainable direction.
The TCO certification includes social and environmental requirements from a lifecycle perspective, including social responsibility in manufacturing, use of materials, warranties and availability of spare parts, user safety and recycling. The TCO Certified label is available for monitors, laptops, smartphones, tablets, all-in-one computers, desktops, projectors and headsets.
We also offer products certified under the Energy Star label, which shows that a product meets energy efficiency requirements, and the EPEAT label from the Green Electronics Council, which also takes into account a product's environmental impact from a life cycle perspective. The EPEAT label is available for computers, monitors and printers. For printers, cartridges and paper, we also have Nordic Swan Ec olabel and EU Ecolabel certified products, as well as products labeled with the Blue Angel, which is the German equivalent of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.

Sustainable use of AV products - Circular & Energy Efficient
Our responsibility and ambition go beyond our own business. Our products have great potential to create sustainable value by enhancing collaboration, learning, effective communication and cohesion between people, without the need to travel and consume fuel. By helping our customers find and install the right audio and video technology for their needs, providing support and service in how to use the equipment in the smartest way, and taking responsibility for our products and services throughout their lifecycle, we aim to help build a sustainable society. We hope you will join us and do what you can, because only together can we succeed!
Climate impact from the use of AV products
The use of audiovisual products and services generates climate impacts due to the electricity needed to power both the products themselves and to maintain data traffic. Two things affect the size of the impact: the energy efficiency of the product and how the electricity used in the system is produced. Sweden is better off than many other countries when it comes to the climate impact of electricity production, but much of the electricity used to transfer data is produced in other countries.
Although digital technologies and products are becoming more and more energy efficient, their use is increasing at such a pace that energy use in the IT sector is growing overall. This means that they also account for an increasing share of climate-impacting emissions. As a user of audio and video products, it is therefore important to ensure that the products you choose to buy actually match your needs, that the products are used for as long as possible and that they can be reused by someone else when they no longer fulfill the desired function - or upgraded so that they do. We are happy to be with our customers all the way, coaching and training them in how to use our products in a smart way!
Extend the lifetime and then recycle the product
A major challenge is that many products have a short lifespan and are difficult to repair, have low resale value and tend to be forgotten and left in storage, or do not end up in the right hands for responsible recycling. To create a more resource-efficient society, we can both reduce energy consumption and extend the lifetime of the products we use, and together challenge the norm that everything must be newly produced or made from virgin materials. We want to help create the conditions for a second-hand market where reusing products creates value for more people.
What do we do at AVS?
The right product - the right use: Total solutions with long life, high availability & service
Our goal is to provide our customers with the right product for their needs, and to be flexible and come up with new solutions when needs change. The right product - the right use: this is how we create the greatest possible benefit from the services we offer.
We support our customers throughout the entire process from purchase to installation, use and take-back (see below) to create the greatest possible benefit at the lowest possible resource cost. We work with total solutions and can offer most products and solutions in audio and video, and to be able to give our customers the solution that suits them best, we are brand-independent. We have extensive experience of complete audio and video solutions in classrooms, meeting rooms, video conference rooms, public environments, auditoriums and halls, studios and events.
We are committed to the longevity of our solutions and offer maintenance and service of the equipment even after the warranty has expired. To be able to offer a consistent and high quality of our solutions, we have high availability. We have offices and warehouses in Malmö, Stockholm and Gothenburg and our experienced AV advisors cover all of Sweden for both installation and service. Our customer service and service organization is experienced and always ready to help our customers.

How can you as a customer contribute?
When faced with investing in AV products or complete solutions for audio and visual communication, it is important to first carefully examine your needs, so that we can then help to develop the smartest solution - the one that fulfills the desired function in the most resource-efficient way. That's why we always offer our customers a consultation and inventory of their needs to ensure that our solutions meet them.
With the high resource cost in terms of materials and energy to produce new products, it is important that the products you choose to purchase are used wisely and efficiently, creating the most benefit possible.
Here are some tips for smart use of AV products:
- Think function instead of product - what are our needs?
-
Get the equipment that delivers the function you need, use it well, service it and keep it updated.
-
Choose sustainability-certified products if possible.
-
Choose products that have energy-saving modes and automatically switch off when not in use.
-
Ask for upgraded/reused products. When your needs change, return your used product to us and exchange it for a new one that meets your new needs.
-
Data traffic is also a limited resource - use it wisely.
